Rechargeable batteries vary in their capacity to hold a charge. In direct sunlight, a smaller capacity battery will work fine. For indirect sunlight, we suggest a larger capacity battery that will perform well when unable to access direct light. Testing shows that in extremely low light settings (i.e. heavy shade from trees or tinted windows) a high-capacity battery fully charged will operate for 30 days. As the performance of the light diminishes the battery will need to be fully recharged or replaced to operate for another 30 days.*

In direct sunlight, our tests show that the candle will operate well without issue, even with a low capacity battery. However, depending on where you are located geographically, in the colder months the days are shorter and nights are longer; meaning less time for your candle to charge and longer run time throughout the night. For this reason, a higher capacity battery may be ideal during these times. Alternatively, you can fully charge your candle’s battery in December to encourage optimum performance through the winter. But generally speaking, even as the batteries start to lose charge in the winter months, the Enlite10 Candle will function for the hours you need it – only going out in the early hours of the morning when most are often asleep.

If you are unsure of your lighting conditions selecting a larger capacity battery will be the recommended choice. If you already have rechargeable batteries at home we suggest trying these out to help determine what works best for you.

Our tests have shown that this is the best functioning battery for our products specific purposes. It is also easily recyclable! Don’t forget, every little bit counts.

SunCandle will also operate on a non-rechargeable AAA battery.
